This impressive piece is the result of an experiment in casting and block-building technique. Taking nearly 10 hours for the casting alone, Gerhard worked 15 layers of variously-colored chocolate into a single, harmonious block. The result exemplifies the relationship of harmonious coloring to millimeter-precise gradation and flawlessly carved forms.
